Patient Advocate for Individual Patients
With about 25 years of experience in the insurance and healthcare field, the board members of THF Ministry have recognized the importance of patient advocacy for those who have a language barrier and cultural differences, especially those who are categorized as low-income, and have consistently helped fellow Christian Korean immigrants for many years. As executives of a health care sharing ministry, THF Ministry board members saw first-hand how difficult it is to overcome a language barrier for Christian Korean immigrants when medical needs occur and how it caused patients to have limited access to health care and develop financial crises. Also, the lack of knowledge and available information regarding the hospital system is a tremendous burden to these immigrants with cultural differences.
THF Ministry helps Christian Korean patients negotiate the high cost of medical bills as best as possible on their behalf so they will not develop financial crises. Also, THF Ministry can help connect Christian Korean patients with effective Christian Community programs. Furthermore, THF Ministry will help them find additional resources for their future health benefits such as affordable health insurance, government insurance, or Christian health care sharing ministries (HCSMs). Actually, there are many Christian HCSMs that are committed to honoring God and providing distinguished services to access quality healthcare. By negotiating bills and connecting the patients to affordable health plans, THF Ministry decreases the patient’s emotional and financial stress so their health can improve in faith and glory to God.
